There are player who like this and there are player who don't like this. Mechanism like stealing or pvp have always two sides. I'm weary of attempting it again, unless the community can agree on a way to accomplish this which works for everyone. From 2010 to 2013-ish, player skills were restricted based on the guild they were in. Regarding restricting skills: This has been controversial in (relatively) recent history. These days we hardly have any players! I'm personally open to changing things which "have always been that way" because clearly something isn't working. Though our community has changed over the years. Consequently, using an alt to steal without that negative impact is against the rules. The only consequence for stealing is that your reputation in the community would be tarnished and other players wouldn't trade with you.
Players could steal during trades, which is fun for some but heartbreaking for others. Regarding trading/player shops: The reason we have no trading system is that in our early days players preferred the current system because it enhanced the role-play value of the game. The new client in development has better keyboard movement, but mouse movement is broken ATM. I also think movement with keyboard needs a slight improvement - rather than using the numpad to move, use WASD or arrow keys and allow multiple keys held at once for diagonals. This thread seems like a decent approach, though IMO the "clickable area" for movement should extend beyond the circles. I prefer playing primarily with keyboard, but feedback from mouse users has always been negative. Yep, controls in general, especially mouse, could use some improvement.
